Place an order from SOLIDWORKS — gull system handbook

A form in the SOLIDWORKS panel: Show in CAD, the Forms and Configurators menu in the panel, what happens during generation, confirming checks.

Place an order from SOLIDWORKS

A form with Show in CAD switched on is in the gull system panel inside SOLIDWORKS. An engineer places an order without switching windows.

Offer a form in the panel

  1. Open the form designer and on the Form root under Settings switch on Show in CAD. Save.
  2. In SOLIDWORKS open the gull system panel. When the app is not on the capture step, the panel shows a menu: Checks, Forms and Configurators.
  3. Under Forms click Open on the form. The form appears in the panel and the Generate button starts an order.

The panel loads the form from the gull system app, so the app must be running — in the background is enough. When it is not, the panel offers Open the app or Start in the background.

During generation

The panel shows "Generating…" and SOLIDWORKS stops taking input: "SOLIDWORKS is now driven by gull system and does not accept input while generating — which is why the model does not move on screen." Control returns by itself when it is done. Do not touch the model; the order could write into a different document than intended.

Checks in the panel

If the workflow has a Check node, the order stops at it and Checks (n) appears in the panel with Confirm and Cancel. The model is rebuilt and open at that moment, so you check it where you are — details in Workflow nodes.

Configurators in the panel

The Configurators menu shows the configurators on this computer. It is for switching into capturing; orders are placed through a form.
