A network folder for outputs — gull system handbook
Tip: a network path as an output structure's root folder, for an ERP and for sharing with the company.
A network folder for outputs
Order documents will be saved to a folder that the whole company, and any system watching it, can see.
Introduction
An output structure's root folder can be a network path, for example `\\server\shared\Orders`. A system that watches the folder, such as an ERP, then picks the documents up. When sharing with the company, the same path holds on every computer.
Steps
- Choose a network folder as the root. In the output structure, click Choose root folder and point it at a network folder, for example `\\server\Orders`.
- Save and check the structure. Press Ctrl+S. Open in Windows shows the structure on disk.
Common problems
- The app reports that another root folder already points at the folder. Two roots with the same path would overwrite each other's files. Choose a different folder.
- Documents are not saved on another computer. A local path may not exist there, and the Log reports that the path is not on this computer. Use a network path.
What next
- Folders and file names. Folders and files named by a formula.
- Sharing with the company. The same structure on every computer.
